How fast is your website on a phone?
Type your site's address. Google's own speed test runs the page on a simulated phone, and in under a minute you see when it appears, whether it jumps or freezes while loading, what makes it heavy, and what to fix first.
Want it fixed?
Ask me
“Ask me to fix it” on any finding fills this in with that finding and the address you checked. Change anything you like; nothing is sent until you press Send, and I reply by email.
What it checks
What Google's test measures
The test is Lighthouse, the same one behind Google's PageSpeed Insights, run on Google's servers as a mid-range phone on a slow connection would load the page. Three of its timings are graded by Google's own published thresholds, so they take their place in the full report's list of what to fix first.
-
Largest paint
When the main content of the page shows. Google counts 2.5 seconds or under as good and over 4 seconds as poor.
-
Blocking time
How long scripts keep the page from answering a tap while it loads. Google counts 200 ms or under as good and over 600 ms as poor.
-
Layout shift
How much the page moves around as it loads. Google counts 0.1 or under as good and over 0.25 as poor.
-
Scores and weight
Google's four scores out of 100, for performance, accessibility, best practices and SEO, and how many kilobytes the page sends, by type.
What it cannot see
One lab run of one page
Google runs the page once, on a simulated phone over a slow connection. A visitor on fast wifi sees less of the delay and one on a weak signal sees more, so the numbers are best for comparing sites, or one page before and after a change. It measures only the page you name.
Speed is one of five sections. The full site check adds the basics, whether the site can be found on Google and in AI assistants, whether it is safe to visit and whether its email arrives, with every problem in one list.
