Local SEO for Bay Area small businesses

Local SEO means showing up when someone nearby searches for what you sell. I set up and keep current what Google reads about your business, for small and medium businesses across the Bay Area, and I measure whether each change worked.

  • Local visibility $500 a month
  • Site tune-up $750
  • Bay Area and remote

How it works

What Google looks at, and what can be done about it

Google says local results depend mainly on three things. Only two of them are in your hands.

  1. Relevance

Whether Google can tell that you offer what someone searched for. This is a complete Google listing, and pages that say what you sell and where.

  2. Distance

How far you are from the person searching. Nobody can change this, so your listing will do best near your business, and regular search results have to carry the towns farther away.

  3. Prominence

How well known you are, which Google reads partly from your reviews and from other websites that link to you. That means real reviews from real customers and real local links, never bought ones.

Why it matters

What I keep finding on local sites

I ran my free check on 195 business websites in Los Gatos and Campbell. 105 did not put their town in the title or main heading, 105 had a search description that was missing or too long to show whole, and 64 had no structured data. Those three are quick to fix. The full findings show the rest, and they are a sample of two towns, so they say nothing certain about yours.

Prices

What it costs

Prices are in US dollars and fixed once we agree on the scope. All the packages are on the services page.

  1. Site tune-up

    $750 once

The one-time start. I fix the title and description, business details for search engines, tap-to-call and opening hours on your existing site, as far as your host allows, and you get the free check run before and after.

It does not include a redesign or new pages.

  2. Local visibility

$500 a month, three months minimum

Your Google listing and Search Console, set up and kept current, and page changes each month based on what people really search for, judged afterwards by whether they worked.

It does not include paid ads, and nobody can honestly promise you a ranking, so I will not.

Questions

What people usually ask

  1. How long does it take?

Expect months, and the first sign is usually new local searches appearing in Search Console before more customers call. I show you those numbers each month.

  2. Can you guarantee first place?

No, and be careful of anyone who does. Google says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking.

  3. I work from home. Will my address be public?

It does not have to be. If you go to your customers, Google lets you hide your address and show the areas you serve. It still needs a real address to verify you.

  4. Can I check where I stand first?

Yes. The free checks show whether Google can find your site and whether your Google listing matches it.

  5. Do you work outside Los Gatos?

I live in Los Gatos and meet in person anywhere in the Bay Area, across Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Sonoma, Napa and Solano counties. Everything else can happen by phone, by email or on a call.
